Clients look to their professional Estheticians for clear guidance and advice. Estheticians need to have a good working knowledge of the skin to meet the needs and expectations of their clients. Palm Beach Academy is committed to instructing our students in a wide variety of effective skin care services.

Palm Beach Academy takes the minimum standards for Estheticians in the state of Florida (standards are set by the Board of Cosmetology) and we add more education and skills. We feel this additional education graduates a well rounded and prepared professional Esthetician.

The roll of our school in an Estheticians success

Today's professional Estheticians need a solid core of education in the anatomy, physiology, pathology and analysis of the skin. The curriculum at the Palm Beach Academy immerses students in a serious study of the skin along with the practice of effective skin treatments and services. We combine the education and practice of traditional skin care with the education and practice of spa services along with facial treatments and peels. This well rounded approach prepares our graduates to work in salons, spas or medical offices.

It is also important for our students to become knowledgeable and comfortable with the use of electrical currents and facial machines. Most new professional skin care services involve combining products and treatments with a variety of different machines. Our students learn how to use high frequency, galvanic, and ultrasound currents on the skin. The use of these currents has been very effective in promoting the health of the skin because they are able to treat specific problems some clients have such as acne. This approach gives our students the ability to transition into other machine modalities offered in medical settings if they need to. For example in Florida laser treatments are only available in a medical office and there are a multitude of different types. Estheticians are not permitted in Florida to use a laser machine unless they are working for a doctor. If our graduates seek employment with a medical doctor typically the doctor or the trainer from the laser manufacturer will provide the specific education for their machine. However they will expect the Esthetician to have a foundation of knowledge for them to work from. Doctors are not trained to perform facials and soothing skin services in their education. They expect professional Estheticians to have an education independent of their own that works in harmony with their practice of medicine.

Palm Beach Academy is committed to teaching as much as we can in the short period of time our students are with us. We must also allow enough time for our students to practice their new skills on clients who visit the schools senior student clinic. This approach honors both the student time with us and the Esthetics profession they are entering.

The Tools

Palm Beach Academy students are trained with a variety of products and tools that are used in Fine salons and spas. Your education would be limited if the cleansers, masks, moisturizers, toners and peels were not of a professional caliber. Good tools and products enable Estheticians to achieve the results clients expect at the hands of a professional. We all know cheap junk so readily available in the beauty business does not work.

As a student you trust your school to provide the professional level of products and tools you need to succeed. That is why the Palm Beach Academy includes everything. Our Skin Care students learn

Fundamentals in the basics of a facial with a variety of products used on different types of skin i.e. dry, oily, combination etc. Our students use a variety of cleansers, moisturizers, facial massage techniques, toners, lotions, masks, ampoules and exfoliants.

Skin analysis with the magnifying lamp, woods lamp, and interactive microscope

Hair removal of the body and eyebrow shaping with wax and tweezers

Deep exfoliation with enzymes, glycolic acid, lactic acid and microdermabrasion machines

How to use the high frequency, galvanic, spray vac., skin brush and ultra sound machines

Makeup application with color theory, analysis of the structure of the face, makeup and brushes

Eyelash and eyebrow tinting and lash extensions

Relaxation facials with special massage techniques and warm stones

Back treatments with skin care products and warm stones

Salon business using texts and lectures

Sanitation using texts, wet immersion, spray and laundering techniques

Florida law using text and lecture
