Massage Therapy

Practiced for thousands of years as a healing art, Massage Therapy has moved from a luxury for some in the U.S. to a necessity for many. Massage Therapists have a unique roll in human touch. When the skills of a competent Therapist are applied to their client for the sole purpose of the clients health and well being it has been proven to have many healing benefits. Most of our students come to us for a formal study of the body to expand and enhance their natural inclination to knead the muscles of their family and friends. We also have many students currently practicing as nurses, paramedics even the occasional doctor who want to add Massage Therapy to their practice. Often we will have students who decided to enter the Massage Therapy profession after receiving the healing benefits of massage after their own injury and want to reach out and help others in the same way. No matter what brings you to consider Massage Therapy as a profession, it is an amazingly rewarding way to earn a living. Our graduates typically work in spas, salons, doctors offices and most graduates start their own business developing their own clientele outside their employment.

Course outline

Throughout their time with us students learn the Anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body as it relates to Massage Therapy. The human body is an amazing vessel. To treat the body effectively a Therapist needs to have a working knowledge of its structure and function. Students are also taught how to navigate the body through the application of Swedish Massage. Swedish massage encompasses proven massage methods that promote pain and stress relief. The strokes and range of motion techniques that are at the heart of Swedish Massage are used in many other types of massage only applied in a different manor. Our curriculum provides a foundation of useful and professional skills for employment as well as a springboard into specific study of many other massage techniques.
